Acts as a catalyst promoting the exchange of ideas between the producer, the food industry and the consumer. No other organisation within British agriculture is as committed or able to fulfil this role.

Understands and addresses the concerns of consumers who are anxious about the production of good British food and the pattern of the farming year.

Informs young consumers about the production of good British food and farming. (Farming in the Classroom for Primary Schools)

Encourages co-operation between the many industries related to food and farming.

Monitors production methods, scientific developments, retail products and the presentation of food in the marketplace.
