Farmhouse Breakfast Week January 2008
Sussex membes will be taking a farmhouse breakfast to the local fire department who have done stirling work for the community over the past years.

WFU won a special award at The South of England Show for Cheeky Cheese and the promotional work WFU does for the Food and farming Industry.
Nigel White from the Cheese Board came along on the Sunday to visit the stand.
May - Food hygiene (Foundation course)
Sussex Branch organised this day through the Wealden Federation of Voluntary Services. On successfully completing the one day course members hold a certificate for 3 years. All members passed with flying colours.
20 May - Elmley Estate visit
Members drove to The Isle of Sheppey in North Kent, hosted by Philip Merricks. The tour comprised a driven tour in an open top converted army wagon, enabling us to see marine birds and wildlife. Regular stops on the way allowed us to dismount and look through the ............
After a picnic lunch we travelled home
June - Sussex Strawberry days
The South of England Show - 5, 6, 7 June
We promoted Sussex grown strawberries at the Meet the farmer Stand as part of the Healthy Eating Initiative 'Five A day' for the Summer Fruits campaign. The Public enjoyed 300lb of tasty Sussex Strawberries.

Member Jo Angear kindly promoted Sussex strawberries for the campaign to the Eastbourne community.

WFU worked with the NFU to serve breakfast to Key Stage 2 pupils at a Bexhill Primary School.

HGCA Farmhouse Breakfast WFU/NFU members gathered at Lewes Railway Station to talk to commuters and offer British hot bacon rolls from the Railway cafe who are loyal supporters of local produce and British products. Good coverage by local press and BBC South TV.

Promotion of Strawberries and cookbook "The Jewels of Summer" at the South of England Show, Ardingly, to be attended by Her Majesty the Queen as part of her national Golden Jubilee tour. WFU members will be supporting the NFU in their Meet the Farmer stand at the same venue to promote the Little Red Tractor farm assurance scheme, to include local beef, lab, tomatoes and milk tasting.
