Having had two of these events so far, I can say in all honesty that we can all learn something new and it is a great way to get to know your local people I will need to know how many people will be in your party, just so that we can sort out the catering. Please contact me on sue.archer@wfu.org.uk or tel: 07778 144042 when you have had a chance to discuss this amongst your friends and neighbours as everyone, from whatever part of the country, will be made most welcome. There are only 12 places left so if you haven't booked yet, please let Kate Baumber know (tel: 01526 321784 or email: kate@kate-baumber.co.uk) by THURSDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER. Farmhouse Breakfast Week We had a very successful Farmhouse Breakfast promotion on Mon. night when we fed members of Laugharne Youth Club with "Breakfast Baps" and Daioni Welsh Organic milk shakes. They were literally queuing at the door for more and that was after they had all had two helpings each!
Strawberry Day - 29 June 2003
Come along for a family day out and support this new branch, promote our delicous Welsh produce and craft and have an enjoyable day out at the same time in the beautiful and picturesque grounds of Dinefwr Park. Branch Report, May 2003 On Monday 10th February two members were invited to attend the Pembrokeshire branch AGM. They received a very warm welcome with lots of enthusiasm and encouragement, not to mention much needed guidance, on the recent establishment of the Carmarthenshire branch. The evening of Tuesday, 11th February, was our first official function at The White Hart, Llandeilo - a cookery demonstration presented by Gareth Richards, a local celebrity chef. Gareth's laid back presentation and joviality made for a successful evening. His laughing and joking with the audience in both English and Welsh made everybody feel at ease. Gareth cooked a range of dishes using locally produced ingredients wherever possible and made a wonderful table arrangement. At the end of the evening, the audience of around ninety people had the chance to taste the dishes, which included a delicious Easter cake. Needless to say, all of the food was devoured very quickly! Kathryn Jones of Castell Howell Foods presented a fantastic raffle with many prizes of locally produced foods so very few people went home empty handed. We will be promoting Gareth's book when it is published later in the summer. On Tuesday 8th April a group of Carm. WFU ladies visited Nant Y Bwla Farmhouse Cheese in Carmarthen by kind invitation of Eiddwen and Edward Morgan. They had chance to browse around the museum, taste the range of cheeses produced at the farm and watch a video about the cheesemaking process before purchasing some of the wonderful cheeses. They then went on to The Tanerdy Lodge where they enjoyed a meal and chat. Wednesday 9th April saw four members undertake a food hygiene course presented by PTP Quality Training of Haverfordwest. We learnt a lot and had an enjoyable day but we have yet to hear how well we did in the exams! Programme 2003:
The branch meets on the second Tuesday of every month at The White Hart, Llandeilo.
