BRUSSEL SPROUTS
Best steamed and served still crunchy with roast meat.
But try sliced and added to stir fries for alternative green crunchiness.
Gratin of British Sprouts
INGREDIENTS
- 1 clove of garlic
- butter to grease dish
- 450g (1lb) cooked sprouts
- 150 - 300ml (5-10fl oz) double cream
- salt, pepper
- handful of stale breadcrumbs
- 2tblsp grated cheese
METHOD
- Preheat oven to 200C/gas mark 6.
- Rub garlic clove into greased flat oven proof dish.
- Bring cream to scalding point (just short of boiling point).
- Place sprouts in dish and season.
- Pour cream over sprouts and then sprinkle with breadcrumbs and then the cheese.
- Grill for 20-25 minutes in the oven or until crusty and brown.
